• The average full-time Sunnyvale City employee is now paid over $100,000 per year in salary and benefits.
• The median compensation for sworn Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers was almost $180,000 each in 2008. One Sunnyvale Public Safety Officer made a total of $233,000 in 2008.
• The top four paid sworn Public Safety Officers, not including the Chief, made a total of almost $1.0 million in 2008.
• In just the six years from 2003 to 2008, the median Public Safety Officer's compensation has increased over 30% from $135,000 to almost $180,000 per year.
• In 2004 and 2005, the City paid over $460,000 to the former City Manager and City Attorney even though they had already left the City.
• In just 6 years, the City Council voted to increase the former City Manager's pay over 50% from $233,000 to over $350,000 per year. The City of San Jose, which has almost 8 times more residents, only pays their City Manager $282,316 per year.
• Our City Council now costs us almost a quarter of a million dollars per year (including the approximately $50,000 in travel allowances).
• In 2008, 396 Sunnyvale City employees made over $100,000 per year in salary and benefits and 57 made over $200,000.
